My lovely MIL phoned this morning and offered to meet me at an amazing fabric store in Wyong (the ONLY redeeming feature of Wyong - let me assure you - unless you live there in which case I'm sure its a very nice place :).
On the drive up there, I diverted into a baby store to hunt for a gift for a friend soon-to-be-mother. Gift located, I went to the counter to pay with my eftpos card. When it came time to enter my pin, I got.stage.fright. I couldn't for the life of me recall the number! Admittedly its a newish card, but still it is just four numbers and surely even my baby-brain can cope with that???
Apparently not.
This is where my story starts to go pear shaped. Embarrassingly unable to pay for my purchase, I left Fern at the store (smacks for me) and sprinted to my car to search for the bit of paper with the pin on it. Because you know, I leave my pin in the car. It is such a safe thing to do. Uhhuh.
Pin located, I sprinted back to the store and paid for my purchase. Remembering my daughter this time, I got her into the car and drove to the material shop. When we got there, I couldn't quite find my purse but figured I'd go inside anyway and worry about it later. After a happy 20 minutes or so with my nose buried in fabric, I returned to my car to locate purse.
No purse. Anywhere.
I realised I must have left the purse at the baby store and gave them a call. NO PURSE.
OMG how have I lost my purse between the baby shop and my car??? With pretty much my entire livelihood stored inside that purse I begun to panic. Then, I noticed a message blinking on my mobile phone. I rang the number. A lady named Kath answered and told me she had my purse, that it had gone sailing off the roof of my car as I was driving down the highway and that her husband had stopped to pick it up. They had had to go through it to find my details, but that everything should be back where they found it. Can you believe the honesty and integrity of this woman??
There is no moral to this tale aside from my realisation that there is still some good in this world... and thank God for that!!
nb. On an even brighter note, I bought some yummy fabrics today, including these below with which I have already created something! Can you guess what? I'll post a pic of my handiwork tomorrow for you!
