Fern's Pillowcase Dress

This week, I trawled a few of our local op-shops in a bid to find a little bookcase for Fern and Elliott's cubby house. I haven't found anything suitable as yet... but I did pick up a little vintage pillowcase for all of $1 that I turned into a little dress for Fern! It took me all of half an hour to make this dress using the most basic sewing techniques possibly in the history of the world:

A bit of homemade couture, perfect for the party season! I can't help but think Fern looks the absolute sweetest in this dress, made all the sweeter by my knowing I made it for her, with love.

Want to make your own pillowcase dress? There are lots of instructions on the net, like this one. Mine I kinda made up myself as I am not very good at following (or understanding!) instructions. It's literally just a pillowcase, 2 metres of blue ribbon and some cotton! Flushed with my success I think I'll keep my eye out for more fun vintage pillowcases to make dresses with, can a girl ever have too many dresses, I ask you??

Have a great weekend x

  2. Oh Nicole, Fern looks like such a little darling in it!! Her hair is really growing (I notice the matching hair bow) and is at a similar stage to Grace's slow growing mop :) The fabric is really lovely and perfect for a dress of this kind - super sweet on gorgeous little Fern! x
