I want, I NEED this rug for Fern's room! I found these images here, from this talented crafter who made hers from jerseys scraps...
... but I can't crochet, not even at all!
I did an Etsy search and found this one I quite like:
from here, $70 |
This one is nice, too:
from here, $100 |
This one kinda gets my heart racing too:
from here, $59 |
What to do? I've been searching for the perfect rug for ages, but rugs are so darn expensive and I have never found that is just right for her room. I am loving the idea of a handmade rug, and these ones have given me some real food for thought! That last image in particular is giving me goosebumps... I'll let you know what I decide!
ps. If any of you can crochet and will volunteer to make me a rug like this, contact me! I'd rather pay YOU rather than a store!
I love the rug you like. It has a nice girl feel to it but nice and chunky too. I hope you can find someone to make it, if your anything like me you won't be happy with something else
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky enough to have a work colleague with a crochet master mother, I've already placed my orders!
Could you scope out some nanas manning op shops? :-)
love them! I've used a crochet blanket as a rug in our wee space. adds some nice colour and texture for low $$ :)
ReplyDeleteLove those crochet rugs! I am making one myself at the moment :) Found some gorgeous colours!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to show you when its done!!
I fell in love with that blue crocheted one when I saw it too and wished I knew how to crochet! I love the mint one above, would be perfect for Sophie's nursery which is mint/grey/pink x
ReplyDeleteTickled you like my doily rug enough to post my picture in your blog :)
ReplyDeleteI can't remember where you're from but there's a great little shop called 'the bower bird project'in Gosford which runs RAG RUGGING CLASSES! Oh i just checked, i thought you were a coastie. ANYWAY that's awesome, i've spoken to the ladies in there and they say it's pretty easy to learn.

I'm really happy you like my rug. Thanks for sharing it with your readers! :)
ReplyDeleteI wish had had more jersey scraps at home, then I could make you one. And besides I'm afraid the shipping from Sweden to Australia would be a bit over the top (the rug is quite heavy...).
Have a nice weekend and good luck with your search for the perfect rug! :)
Number two - swooooon! Colour and sweet lacy pattern. x
ReplyDeleteOh goodness I love them all!
ReplyDeleteI'm determined to learn how to crochet although I imagine I'll be restricted to making little granny squares.
I especially love no. 2!
Kate
Ooh, love that last one. What great finds. I'm trying to make a rag rug at the moment but making very slow progress ie. not dedicating any time to it. Oh, dear.
ReplyDeleteI love all these rugs.
