Easter Wrapped Up

The happiest of Easters to you, dear friends!  Hope you are having a scrumptious long weekend - whatever you are doing this religious holiday and whomever you are doing it with...

I've had a lovely few days packed with family, friends, sunshine and perhaps the odd piece of chocolate here and there ;).

I thought I'd do a little wrap-up of some of what I've been up to, and then I plan on visiting all your blogs to peep in on YOUR Easter adventures!

It started a few days ago when I hosted six kids (and 5 babies!) at my place for an Easter soiree. It being the first year any of us let our kidlets go to town with chocolate, we did go a tad overboard with the ensuing Easter egg hunt. But really, it's a first-time-mum rite of passage to go a little mental at first Easters and Christmases, right?! ahem. Anyway, the kids decorated and glued together little paper baskets to collect their eggs while we lounged luxuriously in the glorious April sunshine drinking coffee and eating cupcakes. Really, could the weather be any more perfect at the mo? It took a few minutes for the kids to catch on, but once they did it was on for young and old and baskets were overflowing with brightly foiled chocolate...

On Saturday afternoon, Dan took the kids out in the bushland to forage for 'nest building' materials. He then constructed this little setup outside on the verandah, consisting of a nest each for Elliott and Fern plus a carrot and pot of tea for the Easter Bunny!

Late Saturday night, we snaked a mini-egg trail from Fern's room outside. We did something else also which I will talk about later in the week... I bit some 'bite marks' into the carrot and filled the nests with a handmade bunny and (in Fern's case) a Humpty Dumpty egg. Unfortunately, Elliott and Fern each woke through the night, and I can't tell you how many times I kicked and almost tripped over one of those mini eggs in the darkness...

When the kids awoke at 6 o'clockish, we went outside to see what the 'bunny' had left.  (no pics, I had the video camera at this point!) Needless to say, Fern was beside herself with excitement. We let her eat chocolate for breakfast (actually we all did, I didn't actually eat real food til 11am - shocking!):

Later, I snapped Fern with her little bunny on the cubby stairs - I made her her own 'fluttering butterfly' shirt; I hardly ever get around to making anything for my own kids!

That's it for now... the kids have gone to bed, Fern has eaten more chocolate in the last 24 hours than she has in her entire life (as have I, come to think of it) and it's been a happy day! Can't wait to read about your adventures, do do share! x

Easter Styling Ideas...

Good morning to you! Hope you had a lovely weekend... mine was fairly low key, though I did throw myself out of my fitness comfort zone and try Zumba for the first time! Aside from leaping this way while everybody else was crouching that way, I think I did fairly well!

You might have noticed a little blog facelift today; it's something that has been in my mind for a while and was pretty seriously overdue! It's still a work in progress though, so any suggestions you might have are welcome!

Today being the start of 'Easter Week' as I'm calling it, thought I'd start off by posting a little styling inspiration... the first being an Easter Egg Hunt! I can't help myself. I know Fern is only 2 and a bit, but I've been hanging the last two years to have an Easter egg hunt and only barely restrained myself last year. This year, it's on! She will be hunting for actual chocolate... but there is an outside chance much of it will go missing from her basket when she is not looking ;). I better get cracking though; I havn't bought any chocolate, not have I made any yet...

Two Weeks Til Easter SALE!

Peeps, so sorry I've neglected my blog this week, I am so busy at the mo it is all I can do to make sure I get dressed in the morning! I only get about an hour a day to sew, but I've been working on some new designs including some much needed boy stuff that I can't wait to launch into my shop next week!

Can you believe Easter is 2 weeks away? Didn't we just pack away the Christmas tree?! I am getting excited, because its the first year we can really gee Fern up about it... and the first time I might relax enough to let her have an egg or two!  I have clearly forgotten how difficult it was to make my own chocolate last year... because I bought some new moulds and plan to do it again this year! I will share my creations with you later next week. 

I think Fern will be wearing the same dress she sported last year, because it was created especially for her for Easter, and despite the fact that she hasn't worn it for a year, it still fits! Elli will be wearing his Eric Carle print onesie I created especially for him and which has proven to be my 'hot' seller this Easter! 

I've been unofficially honouring my blog-special on my Easter range from a couple of weeks ago, so I figure I'll make it official and extend it to YOU!

Each onesie features a bunny rabbit applique with hand embroidered eye detailing on the front... and a cute little bunny tail on the back!

Wondering what to dress your little-one in this Easter?

I've made up a range of sweet little bunny appliqued onesies in a range of GENDER NEUTRAL fabrics! Each bunny features a hand-stitched eye (not v clear in the images to follow!) and a little bunny tail on the back! The onesies are available in all sizes (0000-1) and in both long and short sleeves. This particular model uses Eric Carle fabric and just might be my secret fave... In fact, its what little Elli will be wearing over Easter, with a pair of leggings and his very first pair of shoes!

Easter is almost around the corner... and I have some very special friends I soon want you to meet!

Easter Wrapup

Each season I come up with ways of making my life just a little more complicated. It's not intentional, but I have been forced to recognise it in myself... this Easter was no exception. I could (should) have raided Woolies like every other human being for my Easter egg supply but nooooooo... I had to complicate my life by making my own. The thing about normal chocolate making is that really, its no more complex than pouring melted chocolate into a mould and leaving it to set. It wasn't until I had already bought my egg moulds (and the colourings, chocolate, ribbon, straw, boxes etc etc) that I remembered I had to make an EGG, that had a shell but was hollow inside and that needed to be somehow joined together. I'll say no more except to say that next year, the fam will be getting Cadburys. Here's the best of the finished product (too embarrassed to show you the worst):

This one was made with white chocolate and pink colouring, and some hundreds and thousands for fun!

Up at Nanny's, Fern went on her first Easter egg hunt! She scored herself a cute rabbit soft toy and Easter Egg (nope, we didn't let her eat that particular egg, but her Nan and Pop might have slipped her a few bits of chocolate when I wasn't looking!)

On Easter Monday, we went for a bush hike high up on the mountain, with beautiful views over the Central Coast. Her dad chose her hiking outfit, and they came out of the bedroom grinning from ear to ear dressed in matching green hiking shorts, grey tees, puffy jackets and boots!

Fern LOVED it; she's turning into quite the little outdoors girl (her father wouldn't have it any other way!). She trotted ahead and mostly refused to hold our hand, preferring to stop every 30 seconds to examine a gumnut or but of rock. I am just loving that Fern can walk now and that she takes such pleasure in little things. Children make you re-appreciate the little things you took for granted, don't they?? Um, those amazing chocolate eggs I was going to dazzle you with today? They're not finished. Why rush? I have tomorrow, riiiight? They'll get done by Sunday, promise.

In the meantime, I hope you had a lovely day with friends and/ or family; I forgot I was pregnant for a bit and went on a 3km cross country hike; I have a nasty headache from not bringing any water as well as neglecting to wear any sunscreen or a hat! I thoroughly enjoyed myself, though!

Anyway, have a safe and happy Easter break my friends.
